Lady Eagles Move to 19-0

The Montgomery County High School Lady Eagles basketball team improved their record to 19-0 on the season with two more wins last week. Both teams took on Portal and McIntosh County Academy, with the boys playing an extra game against Savannah Classical Academy.

Girls vs. Portal

The Lady Eagles rolled to another big win as they beat the Lady Panthers of Portal on Tuesday of last week on the road. MCHS took a 16-10 lead in the first quarter of the game and then extended that lead to 32-18 by halftime.

In the third, the Panthers kept pace, but MCHS was on top 49-33 heading to the fourth quarter. MCHS took the win 60-46.

Marley Bell led the way for MCHS with 22 points, with Amire Banks adding 21, and Erin Adams scoring 9 in the win.

Boys vs. Portal It was all Portal in the boy’s game. The Panthers pulled away to a 21-6 lead in the fist quarter of the game and pushed that lead to 41-19 by halftime.

In the third quarter, the Panthers were on top 56-29, and they took the win over the Eagles, 7540.

Boys vs. SCA

Up next were the boys against Savannah Classical on Friday. The Eagles got their only win over the

week as they beat the Spartans. It was a close game by the Eagles came out on top, 73-66 over SCA.

Girls vs. MCA

The Lady Eagles took another easy win as they faced the Lady Buccaneers of MCA on Saturday at home. MCHS led the game 15-3 by the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 30-11 by halftime.

In the third, they kept pulling away, taking a 4416 lead into the fourth quarter. MCHS brought in the subs in the fourth giving them some playing time on the way to a 50-20 win. Bell led the Eagles with 16 points, Trinity Wideman added 13 points, and Adams scored 9 in the win.

This week MCHS was at Jenkins County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Telfair County at 6:00 p.m.
