Game 1

After two scoreless innings, the Tigers threatened in the bottom of the third with a hit that advanced the runner to second on a BPC error before taking a 1-0 lead with an RBI single. The game proved to be a tight one, as both teams produced three scoreless innings of play.

At the top of the seventh, Destiny Lucas and Tori Wright picked up base hits to place a pair of runners on. After Alyssa Usrey popped out to the shortstop, Chloe Strickland hit a double to bring in both Lucas and Wright to take a 2-1 lead. Brewton- Parker was able to hold the Tigers off in the bottom of the seventh to take the first game of the doubleheader 2-1.

Brewton-Parker led 4-3 in hits. Strickland led with one double and two RBIs. Alexis Bradshaw, Wright, and Lucas also gathered a hit each. Natalie O’Neal (3-0) pitched all seven innings and gathered two strikeouts with two walks while allowing three hits.

Game 2

In the second game, the teams held each other from scoring in the first two innings before Edward Waters found a run with three hits in the top of the third inning.

After another three scoreless innings, the Lady Barons gathered some hope with a twoout single and a stolen base from Bradshaw. Abby Flowers came up to bat and drilled one over the center-field fence for a two-run homer, giving BPC a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers were fortunate enough to reach base with a walk and “hit by pitch” to put two runners on. Edward Waters utilized stolen bases to advance runners before leveling the game with a sacrifice fly to left field to force extra innings.

After another pair of scoreless innings, Edward Waters found a way to score in the 10th inning to give the Lady Barons their first loss of the season in a 3-2 defeat.

The Tigers led 9-2 in hits with Flowers leading the team with one home run and two RBIs. Bradshaw also had a hit and a run. Kira Altman (2-1) pitched all 10 innings, producing four strikeouts and four walks.
