The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team kicked off their season last week with games against Washington County, Swainsboro, and Coffee County. The Indians picked up a win over Washington, but dropped the next two games. vs. Washington

The Indians scored seven runs in the 5th and 6th innings to come from behind to beat Washington Co. 8-7.

Tucker McDonald got the start going 4 innings and allowing 4 runs with 2 K’s. Carson Ricks got credit with the win going 1 inning. Jackson Berry came in and stuck out the last batter to get the save.

Berry led the Indians at the plate with 2 hits. Mason Toole led the team with 3 RBI’s. Andrew Norfleet and Veer Patel each added 2 RBI’s on the night. vs. Swainsboro

Swainsboro got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with one run. They added another in the second, and one more in the third to take a 3-0 lead over the Indians.

The Tigers broke it open in the fourth inning with three more runs to push their lead to 6-0. Vidalia did plate two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but that was all they could muster on the day.

Swainsboro scored two more in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth to take the win, 9-2, over Vidalia. vs. Coffee

The Trojans of Coffee scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take a 4-0 lead. They plated one more in the third and one in the fifth to lead 6-0 over Vidalia.

Vidalia scored one run in the top of the sixth inning, but three more from Coffee in the bottom of the frame gave them a 9-1 win over VHS.

This week VHS hosted Wayne County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m., and then on Friday they will be at Washington County at 5:30 p.m.
