Wheeler Into State Playoffs

The Bulldogs of Wheeler County High School took part in the Region 4 Basketball Tournament last week. The Lady Bulldogs saw their season come to an end as they lost in the play in game to Telfair County.

The boys dropped their first game to Wilcox County, but bounced back with a win in the consolation game against Dooly County to take a #3 seed into the State Playoffs.

Girls vs. Telfair

Both teams got off to a slow start with Telfair holding a 9-4 lead at the end of the fist quarter. They extended that lead in the second and were on top 20-10 at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter Telfair led the game 3323, but the Lady Trojans pulled away in the fourth on the way to a 50-27 win.

Nakita James led Wheeler with 17 points, and Maryee Grace Selph added 8 in the loss.

Boys vs. Wilcox

The boys had a tough game against the Patriots of Wilcox on Friday of last week. Wheeler fell bahind and could not catch up as Wilcox took the win, 68-51.

Boys vs. Dooly

The Bulldogs pulled out a two-point win over the Bobcats on Saturday. Wheeler gave it their all and came out on top, 6765. The win moves them into the State Playoffs as the #3 seed out of Region 4.

The Wheeler boys will play this week on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Calhoun County in the first round of the playoffs.
