Good Week For VHS Tennis

The Vidalia High School tennis team played three matches last week. The VHS boys moved to 7-0 on the season as they won all three of their matches. The Lady Indians won two of their three on the week. VHS took on Johnson County on Tuesday, then faced the Tigers of Metter on Wednesday, and wrapped up the week on Thursday with Claxton. vs. Johnson Boys The Boys remain undefeated at 5-0 by overcoming Johnson County in another close, nonregion matchlastnight3-2. At1st Singles, Sophomore Caleb Beck won, defeating Johnson County's Brantley Martin in straight sets. Caleb won the first set 6-4, but the 2nd second required a tie-breaker(7-5). Senior Jameson Rolen and Sophomore Larsen Carter at 1st doubles won 6-0, 6-1. Vidalia's final win that sealed the victory came at 3rd Singles from Freshman Stone Smith, who won 6-0, 6-0.
Girls
The Girls' Team fought well and had many close sets, but ended up losing 1-4. Their victory came from 1st Doubles, Seniors Emma Beck and Cate Wilcox. The girls won their first set in a tiebreaker (74), and finished the match with a 6-4 score in the 2nd set. vs. Metter
Both the Girl's and Boy's tennis teams defeated Metter Wednesday night at home in a nonregion match.
Girls
The Girls won 4-1 with victories coming from 1st doubles seniors Emma Beck and Cate Wilcox with a score of 6-1, 6-2. Vidalia also won all three singles matches in straight sets with wins coming from three sophomores. At 1st singles Laylah Brantley won 6-1, 6-2, Sadie Berry at 2nd singles won 6-4, 6-1 and at 3rd singles, Kali Jo Roberson won 6-0, 6-0.
Boys
The Boys kept their record perfect (6-0) by defeating Metter 5-0. At 1st singles, Caleb Beck won 6-0, 6-1. Danny Richardson at 2nd singles won 6-0, 6-1, and Stone Smith at 3rd also won 6-1, 6-0. Senior Jameson Rolen and Sophomore Larsen Carter at 1st doubles won 6-0, 6-1. Vidalia finished the shut-out when Ryker Hutto and Cooper McCallum won the 2nd doubles match, 6-2, 6-2. vs. Claxton
The Girls' and Boys' tennis teams defeated Claxton Thursday night on the road in a nonregion match.
Girls
The Girls won 4-1 with victories coming from 1st singles Laylah Brantley (61, 6-3), Sadie Berry at 2nd singles (6-2, 5-7, TB 10-5), 1st doubles seniors Emma Beck and Cate Wilcox (61, 6-0), and 2nd doubles, Deidra Boston and Emma Vinson (6-0, 6-0).
Boys
The Boys extended their perfect season (6-0) winning all matches in straight sets and only dropping 2 games in the 10 sets played. At1stsingles, Caleb Beck won 6-1, 6-1. Danny Richardson at 2nd singles won 6-0, 6-0, and Stone Smith at 3rd also won6-01,6-0. Jameson Rolen and Larsen Carter at 1st doubles won 6-0, 6-0. Ryker Hutto and Cooper McCallum completed the sweep, winning by forfeit.
