Indians Win 2 Games
The Indians baseball team of Vidalia High School had a busy week as they played three nonregion games. The Indians got wins in two of the three as they defeated Swainsboro on Wednesday and Washington County on Thursday. They fell to Wayne County on Tuesday of last week. vs. Wayne
The Indians hosted Washington County on Tuesday at The Reservation with the Golden Hawks coming out on top.
Wayne got on the board first with a run in the top of the third inning, and then they added three more in the fifth to push their lead to 4-0.
Vidalia scored their only runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Veer Patel drove in two runs to close the lead to 4-2. But that was all that the Indians could get as they lost the game 4-2. vs. Swainsboro
Vidalia hosted the Tigers on Wednesday and got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Swainsboro answered in the top of the second inning with two runs to jump on top. They added another run in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead over the Indians.
VHS came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-3 lead over the Tigers. Vidalia added another in the fifth to lead 5-3.
But in the top of the sixth inning the Tigers plated four runs as they went ahead, 7-5, over the Indians. VHS answered, though, as they scored five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take back the lead, 10-7.
Jackson Berry, Brayden McCaw, and Andrew Norfleet each collected 2 hits on the night. McCaw led the team with 3 RBI’s and Lawson Lowe added a double in the sixth inning to help secure the win.
Veer Patel started the game on the mound for the Indians going five and twothirds innings, giving up 5 earned runs while striking out 6. Carson Ricks picked up the win in relief going an inning and one-third. vs. Washington
It was another close game for VHS as they took the win over Washington. VHS got on the board in the top of the first inning with two runs. Washington answered with a run in the bottom of the second and then two more in the third to take a 3-2 lead over VHS.
Washington extended their lead in the fourth inning with another run for a 4-2 lead. But VHS plated four runs in the top of the fifth inning as they jumped ahead, 6-4 over Washington. VHS held on in the sixth and seventh innings get the win by that score.
Brayden McCaw collected 3 hits on the night and Veer Patel picked up two hits.
Jackson Berry earned the win giving up 4 hits and 4 runs over 6 innings while striking out 6. Carson Ricks got credit with the save getting the last out of the night with bases loaded.
With the win, Vidalia goes to 3-3 on the season. This week VHS played West Laurens on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at home against Coffee County at 5:45 p.m. and then on Friday they will host South Effingham at 5:45 p.m.
