Lady Barons Close Out Indoor Season

Brewton-Parker College Women’s Track and Field kicked off day one of the SSAC Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday. They wrapped up the event on Saturday with a sixth place finish.
Day 1
The Lady Barons ended day one in sixth place with nine team points. BPC’s day was highlighted by a seventh- place finish from Karen Garcia in the 1,000 meters with a new school record of 3:22.23.
In the 400 meters, Ziona Harris gathered three points with a time of 1:01.69 for sixth place and was followed by Mylan Tanner in eighth with a time of 1:06.57.
A’Shanti Surrey placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 4.86 meters. Harris produced a jump of 4.79 for eighth place.
Day 2
Brewton-Parker College Women’s Track and Field closed out the Indoor Season with 21 points for a sixth-place finish at the SSAC Indoor Championship.
On the track, the Lady Barons gathered five team points from a fourth-place finish from Karen Garcia in the 600 meters with a time of 1:48.21. Garcia also produced a time of 6:02.53 in the mile for sixth place.
Aaliyah Allen gathered three team points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.21 seconds for sixth place.
In the field events, A’Shanti Surrey took an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 9.77 to give BPC one team point.
The Lady Barons will take a small break before coming back to start the outdoor season at the Clark Atlanta Panther Invitational on Saturday, March 9.
