MCHS Eagles Defeat Tigers
The Montgomery County High School baseball team picked up their first win of the season last week as they defeated Claxton on Thursday. They also took on East Laurens on Tuesday, falling to the Falcons. vs. E. Laurens
It was a close game against the Falcons of East Laurens on the road on Tuesday. MCHS took the lead in the top of the first inning with two runs, but the Falcons picked up one in the bottom of the inning to close the lead to 2-1. East Laurens added two more in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead over MCHS.
The Eagles plated four runs in the top of the third inning as they took the lead back, 6-3, but two more from the Falcons closed it back to 6-5. East Laurens then scored two more runs in the fourth inning to give them a 7-6 lead over MCHS.
The Eagles were not able to get any more across the plate as they lost 7-6. Luke Burns led the Eagles with three hits on the day. vs. Claxton
It was another onerun game, but this time the Eagles were on top. Claxton scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles answered in the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Tigers went back in front in the top of the third inning with two more runs, making the score 3-1.
The Eagles added a run in the fifth, and then in the bottom of the seventh inning, they scored two runs to take the win, 4-3, over Claxton.
Eric White led the way with two hits for MCHS.
This week the Eagles hosted Brooks County on Monday and Tattnall County on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Atkinson County at 5:30 p.m.
