Vikings With Two Wins
The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team won two games last week as they defeated the Panthers of Portal and the Cobras of Twiggs County. Treutlen won both games by the run rule. vs. Portal
Portal scored first with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Vikings plated two in the bottom of the first and then five more in the second inning to jump out to a 7-1 lead.
Portal added two runs in the top of the third, but that was all they could muster in the game. Treutlen scored one more in the third, three in the fourth and then two more in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the game by the run rule, 13-3.
Pierce Walker led the team with 2 hits and 3 RBI's. Kolby McClendon and Cooper Brantley each had two hits in the game with McClendon driving in 2 runs. Jackson Walker got the win on the mound, going 5 innings with 10 strikeouts. Branton Hackle picked up the save. vs. Twiggs Treutlen put two runs on the board in the first inning to take the early lead. They scored five more in the fourth and then put three up in the fifth to take the win by the run rule, 10-0.
Treutlen only had four hits in the game, but the Cobras made three errors and walked 9 batters.
This week Treutlen played Wheeler County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. They will close out the Region series on Friday at home against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m.
