Wheeler Defeats Wilkinson
The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team took on Wilkinson County last week and rolled to an easy win.
Wheeler got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Drew Dixon Tripled. Wilkinson committed an error, and Wheeler scored then on a wild pitch. The Bulldogs came out of the inning with three runs to hold the early lead. They added seven more runs in the bottom of the third inning to push their lead to 10-0.
Wilkinson did get a run in the top of the fourth inning, but Wheeler answered in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to go ahead, 13-1.
Wheeler held in the fifth inning to take the game by the run rule, 13-1.
Walker Bridges got the win on the mound, giving up just one hit in the game. Dixon got the save for the Bulldogs.
This week Wheeler was at the Vikings of Treutlen County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday when the Vikings come to town at 6:00 p.m., and then on Friday they will wrap up the Region series at Treutlen at 6:00 p.m.
