Wheeler Track Kicks Off Season

In a thrilling display of athletic prowess, the Wheeler County High School Bulldogs Track and Field Team has kicked off their season with remarkable performances against formidable opponents, proving that size doesn't always matter on the track.

Competing against larger schools such as Northside-Warner Robins, Fitzgerald, Turner County, and Brooks County, alongside their Region opponent Wilcox County, the Bulldogs showcased their talent and determination, leaving a lasting impression on the track.

Leading the charge for the Bulldogs were standout athletes Marcy Delgado, Sencear Marks, and JT Gillis, who secured first-place finishes in their respective events, setting the tone for an exceptional start to the season.

Marcy Delgado dominated the field in the 800-meter run, displaying both speed and endurance to claim the top spot. Her impressive performance not only earned valuable points for the team but also demonstrated her potential as a force to be reckoned with in the middle- distance events.

Sencear Marks electrified the track with a sensational victory in the 200-meter dash, showcasing explosive speed and impeccable technique. Marks' triumph not only secured vital points for the Bulldogs but also solidified his status as a standout sprinter in the competitive field of high school track and field.

JT Gillis proved to be a formidable presence in the Discus Throw, unleashing a powerful throw that soared past the competition, clinching a welldeserved first-place finish. Gillis' exceptional technique and strength showcased the Bulldogs' depth in the field events, setting a high standard for the rest of the season.

While Delgado, Marks, and Gillis shone brightly with their firstplace finishes, the Bulldogs also saw numerous top-five performances across various events, further highlighting the team's depth and versatility on the track.

Landon Wilson showcased his jumping prowess with a second-place finish in the High Jump, demonstrating precision and athleticism in his performance.

Sencear Marks continued his impressive showing with a secondplace finish in the highly competitive 100-meter dash, proving to be a consistent threat in the sprint events.

The Women's 4×100 meter relay team delivered a stellar performance, securing a top-five finish and showcasing the Bulldogs' strength in the relay events.

Marcy Delgado displayed her versatility with a strong showing in the 400-meter dash, earning a top-five finish and contributing valuable points to the team's overall score.

Makaylin Harvey demonstrated her throwing prowess with a topfive finish in the Shot Put, showcasing the Bulldogs' depth in the field events.

Nikita James showcased her speed and agility with top-five finishes in both the 200-meter dash and the 300-meter hurdles, proving to be a versatile asset for the Bulldogs.

Jekayla Mills impressed with her performance in the 200-meter dash, securing a top-five finish and adding valuable points to the team's tally.

The Men's 4×100 meter relay team displayed exceptional teamwork and speed, earning a top-five finish and highlighting the Bulldogs' strength in the relay events.

Juan Delgado showcased his endurance with top-five finishes in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs, demonstrating his ability to excel in the distance events.

Season Bests were set by Patrice Allen, Tyleah Deeds, Harmonie Jackson, K'Dence Mackey, Derionna Madison, Aniyah Ricks, Justin Culver, Quenshawn Glasper, Jeremiah Kincy, Isaiah Williams, and Nathan Wright.

With a stellar start to the season, the Wheeler County Bulldogs Track and Field Team has set the bar high for themselves and their competitors. With a talented roster of athletes and a relentless drive for success, the Bulldogs are poised to continue their winning ways as they strive for excellence in every event.
