Vidalia Boys & Girls Tennis Take 3rd At LaGrange

Both the Vidalia High School boys’ and girls’ tennis teams finished 3rd in the Grainger Invitation in LaGrange last weekend.
Girls
The girls, lead by 1st singles Laylah Brantley defeated Lumpkin County (3-2), lost to Allatoona (2-3), then finished the tournament with a win over Harris County (4-1). Laylah Brantley at 1st Singles played some of her best tennis of the season, winning all three of her matches against some tough competition. The 1st Doubles team of Emma Beck and Diedra Boston also played well, winning 2 out of 3 matches for the weekend. Cate Wilcox and Sadie Berry at 2nd Doubles also brought home two wins for the team. Hanna Nichols moved up to 2nd singles this weekend and came through with a great win for the team against a tough Allatoona opponent.
Boys
The boys team won 3 out of 4 matches, starting with a 4-1 win over Dalton. After that match, the boys faced Lumpkin County and suffered their only setback of the weekend with a close loss. On Saturday, returned to the winning column going 2-0, beating Southeast Bulloch 4-1 and Harris County, 4- 1. Caleb Beck at 1st Singles, Larsen Carter at 2nd Singles, Jameson Rolen and Sukumar Paidi at 1st Doubles, and Danny Richardson and Stone Smith all won 3 out of the 4 matches for the tournament.
