RTCA Falls To Citizens
The Crusaders baseball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy took on Citizens Christian's Patriots last Tuesday in Lyons. It was a battle that went 10 innings before a winner was decided.
The game went scoreless for the first three innings, and in the top of the fourth CCA took the lead with an RBI single to go up 1-0. CCA added a run in the top of the fifth inning to push their lead to 2-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Brittan Tabor drove in two runs to tie the game for RTCA at 2-2. CCA answered with a run in the top of the sixth inning, and then in the bottom of the seventh Tabor again came through for RTCA as he drove in the tying run to force extra innings.
Neither team scored in the eighth or ninth innings, but in the top of the tenth inning a solo home run by CCA gave them a 4-3 lead over RTCA. RTCA was not able to score in the bottom of the frame as the Patriots won the game, 4-3.
Tabor and Tripp Druden each had two hits in the game for RTCA.
This week RTCA hosts Edmund Burke on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and then will host Trinity Christian on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
