Heritage Eagles Move To 11-2
The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles baseball team are now 11-2-1 on the season and are 1-0 in Region play. Last week they picked up a win over Twiggs Academy, but then fell to Mary Persons in just their second loss of the season. They bounced back on Monday of this week with a win over Thomas Jefferson Academy. vs. Twiggs
VHA rolled to a win over Twiggs. The Eagles plated a run in the top of the first inning but then blew the game open in the second. Maddyx Herrin picked up an RBI double, which was followed by an RBI single from Greer Posey. RJ Wells drove in two more runs with a single, and then Jacob Beasley doubled in two more. The inning wrapped with an RBI double from Herrin that gave VHA a 9-0 lead.
VHA added six more runs in the third inning. Person O'Neal picked up an insidethe- park home run which scored three runs, and then Herrin drove in another run. Trevor White added a 2 RBI single as the Eagles took an 18-0 lead.
Heritage held in the bottom of the third to win the game 18-0. vs. Mary Persons
VHA played well against GHSA 3A Mary Persons last week, but fell short in the end. VHA took the lead in the top of the second inning with a run off a single by Ledger Curl. The Bulldogs of Mary Persons answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs to jump on top.
In the top of the fourth inning a 2 RBI single by Herrin put the Eagles back on top, 3-2. VHA added one more run in the top of the fifth as they took a 4-2 lead over the Bulldogs. Mary Persons drove in two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4, and then in the bottom of the sixth inning the Bulldogs put five runs on the board with big help from a three-run home run. That put them on top 9-4.
Heritage could not make up any ground and fell to the Bulldogs, 9-4. vs. TJ
Dalton Price threw a onehitter for the Eagles on Monday of this week against Thomas Jefferson while striking out 11 batters on the way to a 12-1 win.
VHA led the game 2-0 after the second inning and were on top 3-1 after the third. Heritage broke the game open in the fifth inning with seven more runs to take a 10-1 lead. Hardy Franklin, JT Cofield, Curl, and Price all drove in runs in the inning as the Eagles pulled away from Thomas Jefferson.
VHA added two more runs in the sixth inning to take the win, 12-1.
This week VHA played a double header against Community Christian Academy on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Pinewood Christian at 6:00 p.m.
