The Vidalia High School Indians baseball teams battled in a threegame Region series with the #3 ranked Pirates of Appling County last week. On Tuesday and Wednesday they played at Vidalia and then wrapped up the series at Appling on Thursday The Indians picked up one win in the series as their record now stands at 9-10 on the year, and they are 4-2 in the Region.

Game 1

Vidalia jumped ahead 1-0 on Appling in the first inning. Neither team scored again until the top of the fifth inning when the Pirates plated two runs to go ahead, 2-1. Appling added two more in the seventh to beat Vidalia 4-1. Tucker McDonald pitched well in a losing effort. The righty went six and one-third innings, giving up four runs, none of them earned, while scattering 9 hits. Carson Ricks went 2-3 at the plate, driving in the only run for the Indians.

Game 2

Game 2 of the series was not near as close as the first. Appling jumped out with seven runs in the top of the first inning, and never looked back. The Pirates added four more in the third inning and three more in the fourth to push their lead to 14-0.

The Pirates capped it off with four in the top of the fifth inning to take the win, 18-0, over the Indians.

Jackson Berry led the Indians with two hits on the night.

Game 3

Appling scored three runs in the first inning, but Vidalia plated six runs in the third to take a 6-3 lead over the Pirates. Appling did manage to add one more run in the fifth inning, but that was all they could do as the Indians took the win, 6-4.

Jackson Berry got the win on the mound moving his record to 5-2 on the year. The junior pitched a complete game allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out seven, with two of them coming in the seventh inning.

Lawson Lowe, Jake McCaw, McDonald, Andrew Norfleet, Veer Patel, and Ricks each had an RBI on the night. Patel went 2-3 at the plate . This week the Indians play a Region series against Brantley County. The first game was on Monday and the second was on Tuesday, both after presstime.

They will play the third game of the series on Thursday in Nahunta at 5:30 p.m.
