region) continued their impressive season with a convincing 5-1 victory over Vidalia. While Vidalia managed an early goal on a free kick just two minutes into the game, the Bulldogs remained composed. They responded with a dominant performance, scoring five unanswered goals to secure a decisive win. This victory holds even greater significance as it officially clinches the Region 3AA title for the Toombs County boys’ soccer team!
Coach Jeremy Moore said, “I am incredibly proud of both teams for battling through the rain and putting in such a tremendous effort tonight,” said the Toombs County Soccer Coach. “The girls securing a playoff spot and the boys taking home the region title – it doesn’t get much better than that! These wins are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players, and it’s truly special to achieve them against our rivals.” vs. Appling
On Thursday night, the Toombs County soccer teams traveled to Baxley to complete their region schedule with matchups against the Appling County Pirates. The girls were looking to secure the #3 seed in the Region, and the boys, who had already wrapped up the Region Title, were looking to continue their dominance as the #1 team in the Region.
Girls
The girls came away with a 2-0 win, moving their season record to 11-5, and finishing up Region play with a 10-4 record.
Boys
The boys scored 17 seconds into the match, but Pirates equalized before the break. Toombs controlled the 2nd half, scoring 2 goals, and shutting out a good Appling County offense. The boys are now 14-2 on the season, and finish 12-2 in Region play, claiming the Region 3AA Title this spring.
Both teams will be off during Spring Break this week, but will play two nonregion contests against Southeast Bulloch and Bradwell Institute when they return from the break, before heading into the GHSA State Playoffs.
