The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team took on the Herons of Brantley County last week in a three-game Region series. They got two of the three games in, but the final one was postponed due to weather and will be made up. Vidalia lost the two games that they did play as they fell to 9-12 on the year and are 4-4 in Region play.

Game 1

A walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning left the Indians on the wrong end of a 4-3 loss to Brantley on Monday afternoon in Nahunta.

VHS took the early lead with a run in the third inning off an error by the Herons. Brantley answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 1-1.

In the top of the fourth, Brayden McCaw singled to drive in a run for VHS to put them back on top, 2-1. VHS added another run in the fifth inning as they pushed their lead to 3- 1.

Brantl e y plated a run in the sixth inning to close the lead to 3-2, and then in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Herons scored two more as they took the win, 4-3, over VHS.

Tucker McDonald pitched well again in the loss, going six and twothirds innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out three. The Indians committed three errors on the night, which led to three of the four Heron runs.

O n the Off ensive side, Vidalia collected six hits on the night from six different Indians.

Game 2

Vidalia dropped another close game to Brantley on Tuesday night, 4-2.

Brantley jumped on top in the third inning with a sacrifice fly and a two-run home run, putting them in front, 3-0. They added a run in the top of the fifth inning to go ahead, 4-0, over the Indians.

In the bottom of the fifth, Jackson Berry and Carson Ricks each drove in a run for the Indians to close the lead to 4-2, but that was all that VHS could get across the plate in the game as they lost, 4- 2.

Berry took the loss for the Indians going four innings allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out six. Vidalia struggles at the plate continued as the Indians only had three hits on the night.

This week VHS takes on the Bears of Pierce County in a three-game Region series. They played the first game on Tuesday after presstime. The Indians will be back in action on Thursday at Pierce at 6:00 p.m., and will play the third game on Friday in Vidalia at 6:00 p.m.
