Mr. J.B. Giles
Mr. James B. “J.B.” Giles, age 78, of Soperton, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Giles was born in Byron and grew up in Fort Valley, where he attended school, as well as in Roberta. He lived most of his life in Treutlen County. He worked as a mechanic and spent 20 years working at Mason’s NAPA Auto Parts. He had also worked as a sewing machine mechanic at the local sewing factories, in the heating and air conditioning trade, and as a carpenter with Hilbron Brantley in Macon. He attended Holy Church of God in Soperton, Fellowship Holiness Church, and was presently a member of Aimwell Calvary Holiness Church in Vidalia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Story Monroe and Berta Carey Giles.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Brantley Giles, Soperton; 3 sons, Darin Giles, Vidalia, Philip “Phil” Giles (Tag), Dudley, and Michael Giles and his wife, Cindy, Soperton; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Giles (Andrea), Soperton, Megan Coleman (Addison), Waynesboro, Justin Giles, Vidalia, Greg Giles, Atlanta, Chase Giles (Chelsea), Cadwell, Cody Giles (Hannah), Soperton; 10 great-grandchildren, Ava, Ana Brooke, Jessa, Jayda, Jase, Shawna, Coleman, Cayson, Tucker, Hayven; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Blackville Church of God, with Pastor Cody Sellers and Rev. Kendall Ward officiating. Interment followed in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Giles, Jordan Giles, Justin Giles, Chase Giles, Cody Giles and Addison Coleman.
Honorary escorts were Hilbron Brantley, Dale Brantley, Buck Brantley, Billy Phillips, D.J. Mason, Donnie Mason, Danny Mason and Newton Sellers.
Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
