Kindergarten students at Wheeler County Elementary School have been busy learning letters, sounds, blends and a special letter combination.

Combination QU is very special because Q has it's own sound as well as U. However, when spelling words with the letter Q, it is followed by the letter U. Letter Q does not go anywhere without the letter U. These letters are joined together in words such as quarter, quill, quiet, question and quarrel. It was only right to have a QU wedding to represent the joining of these two alphabet letters.

A special ceremony was recently held at WCES, joining these two pieces of the alphabet in Letter Matrimony.

Students were selected from each homeroom to be attendants. Mr. Pope officiated the event and the congregation consisted of the Kindergarten students sporting their QU head bands. The students dressed in their fancy clothes for this event. It was a full day of celebration.
