Toombs County Emergency Management Agency volunteer Bill Collins was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation for his service to the community by the local Four Rivers chapter of the Sons of American Revolution.
Chapter President Steve DeWeil presented Collins with the award at the Toombs County EMA/EMS headquarters, as he lured Collins to the surprise by telling him that Toombs County EMA Director Lynn Moore needed to speak with him. “We just want to let Bill know that we appreciate him for all that he has done for our community,” DeWeil commented. “Bill has spent several years helping here with the EMA. He means a lot to us, especially to us handheld radio guys.”
He then turned to Collins, “Thank you for all that you’ve done for our area.”
Collins was speechless at the honor. “Thank you so much,” he emphasized. “I have truly enjoyed what I have done, and I have met a lot of great people along the way.”
The honoree has spent several years specializing in radio communications for the EMA by helping responders communicate during crises. Collins’s recognition is merely the first in a series of recognitions which the Four Rivers Chapter has planned for those who serve the community.
