Heritage Academy Wins In Final 4
It was a big day for the Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles baseball team last Friday as they hosted a rematch of last season State Championship Game. The Eagles were playing in the Final 4 of the GAPPS State Playoffs with Horizon Christian of Cumming, GA, coming to town. The Eagles had no problems as they rolled to two wins to secure their spot in the State Championship Series this Friday at home.
Game 1
Heritage started off a bit slow at the plate, but they picked up a run in the first inning off an RBI hit by RJ Wells. They added a run in the second inning off a double by Ledger Curl.
Horizon scored a run in the top of the third inning to close the lead to 2-1, but in the bottom of the frame, the Eagles plated another run off a hit by Wells to take a 3-1 lead.

drove in two runs with a solid single, and then Jake Adams picked up an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1. Curl drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single, making the score 8-1.
The Eagles held in the sixth and seventh innings to win the game, 8- 1.
Dalton Price got the win on the mound for VHA allowing just four hits while striking out eight batters.
Game 2
It was all Heritage in the second game of the series as they rolled to a four inning, run rule win.
In the top of the first inning, the Eagles pulled away as they plated eight runs. The first three came with a bases-loaded, baseclearing single by Wells. Price came through with an RBI single, and then Hardy Franklin picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly. An error brought in another run, and then Curl drove in a run. JT Cofield drove in the final run of the inning for the Eagles with a single to put VHA on top 8-0.
Heritage added two runs in the third inning on a hit by Curl to take a 10-0 lead. VHA added seven more in the fourth inning on the way to the win. Franklin walked with the bases loaded, Adams singled in two runs, and Curl drove in another. Wells added an RBI and Price drove in the final run on the way to a 17-0 win.
This week the Eagles will host Victory Baptist on Friday for the State Championship. It is a best-of-three series with a double header on Friday beginning at 1:30 p.m. If necessary, they will play a third game on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
