RTCA Takes 2 From FPCA
The Crusaders of Robert Toombs Christian Academy baseball team are into the Final 4 after defeating First Presbyterian Christian Academy of Hinesville last Friday at home. RTCA took the first two games in the best-of-three series to move on the Final 4, which they will host this Friday against Thomas Jefferson.
Game 1
FPCA took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but RTCA bounced back with two in the bottom of the second as they went ahead, 2-1. FPCA tied the game in the top of the third inning, but that lead was short lived.
RTCA finally got the bats going in the fourth inning as they plated four runs. That put the Crusaders in front, 6-2. RTCA added one more run in the fifth inning on the way to a 7-2 victory.
Game 2
The second game was a close one with just a total of three runs scored. The game was scoreless through the first three innings, but RTCA plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
FPCA came back with a run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, but RTCA answered in the bottom of the fifth with one run to go back on top, 2-1.
RTCA held in the sixth and seventh innings on the way to a 2-1 win, and a trip to the GIAA Final 4.
RTCA will host Thomas Jefferson on Friday with a double header. They will start the first game at 1:00 p.m. If necessary, they will play a third game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The winner will move on the Championship next Thursday in Macon against the winner of the Flint River vs. David Emanuel series.
