VPD Investigating Scott Drive Shooting

The Vidalia Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that left one man with noncritical injuries on Sunday, April 28.

At around 5:24 a.m. on April 28, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Scott Drive in reference to shots fired. While officers were en route, dispatchers advised that a male with multiple gunshot wounds was lying in the doorway of a home in the 700 block of the street.

Upon arrival, officers identified the man as Shawn Michael Edwards, 22, of Vidalia, and provided him with on-scene medical attention until paramedics arrived. Edwards was taken to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital by ambulance, and later transferred to Augusta University Medical Center where he remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
