DVA Announces Chalk Walk Winners

The Downtown Vidalia Association (DVA) has announced the winners of the annual Chalk Walk, which helps to decorate the downtown sidewalks for the Vidalia Onion Festival.

Student artists from local schools covered the downtown streets on Wednesday, April 24, as they created images that celebrated the city of Vidalia and its prized crop. That afternoon, a panel of judges walked the decorated paths to determine the winners of the event, who each received a monetary prize.

Vidalia High School students swept the competition, as Ava NeeSmith took home the ultimate prize, Noah Varn followed in 2nd Place, and the duo of Jolene Stephens and Maggie Mitchell worked together to claim 3rd place.

“This is always such a fun competition,” Downtown Vidalia Executive Director Tonya Parker remarked. “It’s an awesome opportunity to give these kids the opportunity to showcase their art skills, and to celebrate the Vidalia Onion Festival.”
