Got a complaint? Got a compliment? Call Your Mind On Line at 537-6397 and let us know what’s on your mind. Quotes are printed exactly as they are called in and are not necessarily factual, but rather, callers’ opinions. Libelous, slanderous, personal attacks, and unfounded accusatory or lengthy comments will not be printed. Two calls per week per caller, and calls should not exceed 30 seconds, please.
“Whoever said last week about boycotting Your Mind Online, you can take your anti-free speech self back to communist China!!”
“‘Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.’ To the person in YMOL last week who doesn’t like the First Amendment and who wants part of the newspaper with an opinion not like theirs to be ‘shut down.’ So you believe everyone should say only agreeable things or should be silenced? So you don’t believe in the rights of all people . . . just those who agree with you or keep their mouths shut? You definitely do not believe in the ideals that started America.”
“To the person last week who wants to start a petition and shut down Your Mind on Line. You are obviously against someone just making a brief statement in the opinion section of a newspaper. But I’ll bet you have no objection to the ‘protests’ going on all over the country on college campuses and destroying the lives of students who want to graduate and the property of the citizens of the state. Because they have a ‘right’ to THEIR opinion, don’t they?”
“To the person who made the negative comment about Your Mind on Line, let me understand. You want to get Your Mind on Line shut down because of negative comments? So it’s ok for you to make a negative comment, but to build unity in the community, you want readers to boycott the newspaper until Your Mind on Line is shut down?”
“It is certain that there are many, many people whose lives have been unnecessarily damaged by the Judge’s actions during his tenure. Hopefully he will be held accountable and true justice will prevail.”
“ I read in The Advance recently that Gov. Kemp signed into law legislation that gives law enforcement more power to deal with illegal immigrants and does away with nocash bail. The ACLU responded by saying that research showed that sweeping people into incarceration only increases crime and taxpayer costs. How stupid are these people? How can you commit crimes to the public when you are locked up?”
“Sometimes rough times bring out the best in people. After the tornado hit my neighborhood in Vidalia last week and caused damage to most of the lots, neighbors were out talking to each other and especially checking on the older ones and those who live alone, seeing if they could help clean up debris or offer food or shelter when the electricity was out. In today’s cultural climate, that was so good to experience.
“I hope I’m the only person in Vidalia who received a 50 point reduction in my credit score due to the slow and tardy operation of the U.S. Postal Service.”
“The May 1 editorial by Rich Lowry is great. Nothing good comes from Columbia University radicalism. [inaudible] Make America Great Again. Go Donald Trump.”
“I shudder to think what old man Biden has got in store for America if he is reelected. Wake up America. Vote republican.”
“In response to the caller about Your Mind On LIne, I strongly urge you to continue the Your Mind On Line column. That and the obituaries are the main reason I buy the newspaper. That is my opinion.”
