Rollover Claims Life of Truck Driver in Wheeler County

A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a truck driver in South Wheeler County early Thursday, May 9. The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that Nigel Carswell died at the scene in the mishap, which occurred shortly after 6 a.m.

According to other sources, Carswell was driving a truck hauling chips for Hajco Timber Energy LLC based in Dublin when the vehicle left the road and rolled over several times near the intersection of St. Paul Church Road and Georgia Highway 19 about seven miles from Lumber City.

First responders extricated the victim from the wreckage. Further details were not available. GSP is continuing to investigate the fatality.
