The Vidalia High School golf team took part in the GHSA State Golf Tournament last week and finished in seventh place overall. That also put them in the top three of public schools. The event was held at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer, and it was hosted by Athens Academy.

On Monday of last week on the first day of the tournament, the Indians shot a team score of 330. Austin Mosley led the way with a 77, Andrew Velazquez followed with a 79, Sam Sapp shot an 82, Tucker Reynolds shot a 92, and Jackson Berry shot a 95.

On day two, VHS shot a 326 for a two-day total of 656. Mosley led with a round of 75, again followed by Velazquez with a 79, Sapp shot an 84, Reynolds had a round of 88, and Berry shot 95.

Mosley finished 13th overall and 3rd overall within the public schools. Velazquez finished 19th overall and finished 6th within public schools. Sapp's rounds of 82,84 were both PR's for him.

Coach Sam Sapp said, “We are very pleased with our performance in tournament with two golfers, one freshman, a baseball player, and a football player. Thank you to all that helped make this experience great, and to all our fans for following and cheering the boys on at tournament.”

Mt. Paran Christian School was the winner with a two day total of 24 under par. They were 2 under par after the first day, sitting in second place overall. They went out on a tear as they shot 22 under as a team on the second day. Across all classifications, there were two teams under par and both were in AA.
