Vidalia 8U Takes 3rd At Lyons

Lyons' and Vidalia's, 8u girls All-Star teams both took part in the 61st Annual Lyons Youth Tournament last week. Vidalia had the best run of the local teams in the tournament as they finished in third place.

Lyons and Reidsville got the tournament started with Lyons rolling to an easy win. Lyons took the win 21-1 to advance to the second round.

Vidalia had a bye in the first round and played their first game against Glennville in the second round.VRD cruised to a win, 14-6. Lyons faced off with Long County in their second round matchup, and fell by the run rule. Long defeated Lyons, 268, to move into the semifinals.

That set up Long and Vidalia to play in the semifinals of the winners' bracket. Long took the win over VRD, 14-5, to move into the Championship Game.

In the losers' bracket, Lyons lost their next game to Emanuel County, 16-4, to end their tournament run.

Vidalia fell into the losers' bracket semifinals where they met up with Glennville. Glennville took the win over Vidalia, 19-9, to advance to the Championship.

In the Championship, Long County won over Glennville in a high scoring contest, 21-19, to claim the tournament title.
