Healthgrades Names Meadows Hospital a 2024 Patient Experience Award Recipient
Memorial Health Meadows Hospital has been recognized as a 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipient by Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. Meadows Hospital is one of only four hospitals in Georgia to earn this prestigious award and ranks in the top 15% of the nation’s medical facilities rated by Healthgrades for positive patient experience. It was the second year in a row that Meadows received the honor.
Other Georgia hospitals recognized were Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital, which was honored for the third consecutive year, having also been ranked among the top 1% of U.S. hospitals for two years running. Northside Hospital Cherokee, the health care system’s Canton location, was also awarded for the third time, and Newnan’s CTCA Atlanta, earned the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for the first time this year.

Meadows Hospital outperformed its peers – based on feedback from its own patients – in order to achieve the 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Survey questions focus on patients’ perceptions of their hospital care, from cleanliness and noise levels to medication explanations and staff responsiveness. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family and their overall rating of the hospital.

To determine the leading hospitals for patient experience, Healthgrades applies a scoring methodology to 10 patient experience measures using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data submitted by the hospital’s own patients.
Healthgrades presented 388 medical facilities across the country with the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for providing best-in-class service from January to December 2022. Although each facility was evaluated on a variety of metrics, the outlet determined three factors proved to be the greatest predictors of awardwinning service: doctor communication, nurse communication, and clear communication about care when discharged.
