Lyons 10u Boys Take Title
The Lyons Recreation Department's 10u Boys All-Stars came out as the GRPA District 1 Champions as they hosted the tournament last week at Partin Park. Vidalia also had a good run in the tournament as they came out as third place, but just the top two teams move on to the State Tournament. VRD vs. Effingham County
Vidalia rolled in their first game of the tournament. They pulled away to a 14-0 win over Effingham.
LRD vs. Bulloch County
Lyons played their first game against Bulloch County and cruised to a big win. The LRD boys had the bats going as they put 15 runs on the board on the way to a 15-0 win. VRD vs. Emanuel County
VRD ran into Emanuel County in the next round and it was a battle. Emanuel scored the only runs of the game, but VRD had a chance all the way to the end, but fell just short, 2-0. That sent VRD into the losers' bracket, and Emanuel into the semifinal against Lyons.
LRD vs. Emanuel County In the semifinal game, Lyons and Emanuel had a close game, but Lyons took the win. LRD won the game 7-4 to advance to the Championship.

over Bulloch County, 19-0. But that put them into the semifinals of the losers' bracket against Emanuel County. It was another close game between the two teams, but again Emanuel came out on top. This time VRD fell 6-4.
LRD vs. Emanuel Championship In the Championship Game, Emanuel got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second inning, but Lyons came right back with two in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 2-2.
Lyons then plated four more runs in the bottom of the third inning as they jumped out to a 6-2 lead. LRD put the game out of reach in the fifth inning with three more runs, giving them a 9-2 lead.
Emanuel did score two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, but that was all they could get as Lyons took the title by the score of 9-4.
Lyons will now move on to the State Tournament, which is being held in Bulloch County. Lyons had a bye in the first round and will play their first game on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. If they make it to the title game, they will play on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
