The Lyons Recreation Department's 10u Boys All-Stars had a good showing at the GRPA State Tournament last week at Bulloch County. Lyons battled through the losers bracket to take 2nd place in the state. vs. Colquitt County

Lyons had a bye in the first round of the tournament and faced off with Colquitt County in the second round. This game was all Lyons as they rolled to an easy win. Lyons plated nine runs in the first inning and five more in the second to take a 13-0 lead.

LRD added seven more in the fourth inning as they took the win, 21-0. vs. Wayne County

Up next was Wayne County. LRD struggled to get the bats going in this game as they scored just one run. Wayne was on top 2-0 after the second inning, and led 3-0 after the third. Wayne added three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Lyons managed to get one run on the board in the bottom of the fifth, but they fell to Wayne, 6- 1. vs. Emanuel County

In the losers' bracket, Lyons took on Emanuel County. It was a big first inning for LRD that decided this game as they scored nine runs. Emanuel plated two in the bottom of the first, but two more from Lyons made it 11- 2.

Neither team scored again as Lyons held on to win by that score. vs. Sumter County

Up next for Lyons was Sumter County, and LRD rolled to an easy win in this game. They led 3-0 after the first inning. They increased their lead to 5-0 in the fourth, but in the sixth they blew the game open with eight more runs.

That made the final score, 13-0, with Lyons taking the win. vs. Coffee County

In the semifinals of the losers' bracket, Lyons took on Coffee County. Coffee got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Lyons answered with four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead.

Coffee plated a run in the fourth, but two more from Lyons in the sixth gave Lyons the win, 6-2. That moved LRD into the Championship Game against Wayne County. vs. Wayne County Championship Game Game 1 Lyons came out and played good defense in the first game as they didn't allow Wayne to score a single run. LRD plated a run in the third inning and then three more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Lyons scored three more in the fifth on the way to a 7-0 win.

The win forced a second game to decide the Champion.

vs. Wayne County Championship Game Game 2 It was another low scoring game, but Wayne did just enough to take the win. LRD held the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but Wayne answered with three in the second to take a 3-2 lead over Lyons.

Lyons struggled to get the bats going over the remainder of the game. Wayne scored two more runs in the fifth inning on the way to a 5-2 win over LRD.

With the loss Lyons finished as second place in the State.
