The Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association (GCCA) hosts an annual scholarship competition for high school seniors, aiming to recognize and reward outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. This prestigious competition begins with an application process in early May. Coaches nominate their top senior athletes, who then complete an application that includes their academic and personal achievements, highlights community service, and features an essay describing the impact of cheerleading on their lives and futures.

Vidalia High School seniors Braylie Davis and AnnaBeth Martin began their Cheerleader of the Year (COTY) application process in May. After months of anticipation, they were notified that, out of 150 applications from seniors across the state of Georgia, they were selected to represent the top 30 in Division A-3A.

On August 3, Braylie and AnnaBeth competed at Columbus State University. All competitors were evaluated in interviews, and performance scores. Performance scores were earned for jumps, cheer, tumbling, stunting, and dance. These scores were combined with their application scores to determine the top 16, earning both Braylie and Anna-Beth positions as All State Team members.

Earning a position on the All State Team is a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young ladies, who are striving to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond. Braylie Davis and AnnaBeth Martin's success in this competition underscores their exceptional abilities and commitment to the daily pursuit of excellence established by the Vidalia Cheerleading Program.

Coach Ann Michele Toole stated, “This is the first year that Vidalia has had two members on the All State Cheerleading Team. We are proud of the way that Braylie and AnnaBeth represent our cheerleading program and this achievement reflects their commitment to our core values.”
