CoreCivic’s Wheeler Correctional Facility Earns High Scores on Recent ACA Audit
CoreCivic's Wheeler Correctional Facility (WCF) in Alamo recently took part in an American Correctional Association (ACA) audit as part of the ACA's reaccreditation process. The facility earned a 100% compliance rating on all facility mandatory standards, and a 99% compliance rating on all applicable non-mandatory standards.
'I am very grateful to the Wheeler staff for their hard work and dedication to providing for the needs of those in our care,' said Warden Shawn Gillis. 'The results are impressive, and I look forward to the next step which will include an ACA panel hearing at the January 2025 ACA Conference.'
ACA accreditation is a rigorous process involving a 72-hour, on-site audit of the facility and its operations. Independent ACA representatives, reviewing hundreds of standards, inspect various aspects of facility management and activities including safety and security, employee training, administration, rehabilitation programs and healthcare.
The auditing cycle for reaccreditation takes place every three years, and WCF has successfully passed each ACA audit since the facility opened in 1998.
CoreCivic is the nation’s largest owner of partnership correctional, detention and residential reentry facilities.
