The Montgomery County High School Eagles football team hosted a scrimmage last Friday night against Georgia Military College. This was a chance for the new coaching staff to get a good look at what they are working with this season, and to guage how far they have come. The game did not dissapoint the Eagles faithful as they watched the Eagles dominate the game.

Head Coach Kareem Hess said, “I am incredibly proud of our team’s performance on Friday. Every player gave their all, showcasing not only their skills but also their dedication and teamwork.”

He added that the defense played a great game as they caused three turnovers and were firing to the ball all night. The Eagles allowed only three points on their way to a 39-3 victory. They also allowed only 23 yards rushing. The MCHS defense also scored once in the game off of one of those turnovers.

Leading the way on defense were Zayden Waller with 3 tackles, 2 assists, 1 interception, and 1 def touchdown. Devontae Wise had 8 tackles and 2 assists. Elijah McEwen added 5 tackles, 1 big hit, and 1 assist. And Jaqwavion Grissom with 3 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 assist.

On the offense side of the ball, quarterback Eric White was 9 for 11 passing with 102 yards, 1 passing TD, and 1 rushing TD. Juman Coglin and Jordyn Patterson had big nights at receiver. Coglin had 5 catches for 135 and 2 TDs. Patterson had 3 catches for 60 yards and 1 TD. McEwen led the team in rushing with 8 carries for 65 yards and 1 TD.

The Eagles will open their regular season on August 16, at Baconton Charter at 7:30 p.m.
