MoCo Hires New Tax Appraiser
Montgomery County has officially hired a new Chief Tax Appraiser after several months of searching to fill the position.
The search began in October 2023, when former Chief Tax Appraiser Julie Adams announced that she would be resigning from the position. Since then, the Montgomery County Board of Tax Assessors has sought candidates to fill the role and help to lead the office.
On Monday, August 5, the Montgomery County Board of Tax Assessors announced the appointment of LaDonna Fay Simon as the new Chief Appraiser. Simon has a background in Computer Information Systems and Criminal Justice from Southeast Illinois College and Columbus State University. She previously worked with both the Toombs County Board of Assessors and Armstrong Atlantic State University where she excelled in appraisal and financial aid assistance. She has experience continued from page
and expertise in property appraisal and mapping, as she also served as a Certified Appraiser III with the Georgia Department of Revenue for seven years.
“We are thrilled to welcome LaDonna Simon to Montgomery County,” Board member Matt Waller emphasized. “Her extensive experience in mass appraising, mapping, and field work – coupled with her dedication to serving the community – make her an invaluable addition to our team. We are confident she will lead our Board of Assessors’ Office with excellence and integrity.”
Simon remarked, “I am honored to join the Montgomery County Board of Tax Assessors as Chief Appraiser. 'I look forward to working closely with the Board and the community to ensure fair and accurate property assessments, and to bring my experience in appraising and mapping to serve the residents of Montgomery County.'
