RTCA started off with a bang in the bottom of the first inning as Meredith Durden hit a solo home run over the right-center fence. That gave RTCA the early 1-0 lead over the Lady Jaguars.
A couple of hits and an error led to a run for the Jaguars in the top of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1, and then Thomas Jefferson took the lead in the top of the third inning with two more runs for a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the frame, Railee Thomas came through with another home run for RTCA as they closed the lead to 3-2. RTCA tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, and then went on top in the sixth with one more run. That gave RTCA a 4-3 lead.
The Lady Crusaders held on to take the win by that score. vs. Pinewood
RTCA had to make a furious comeback late in the game to get the win over Pinewood. Pinewood scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and another run in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead over RTCA.
RTCA plated a run in the top of the third inning, but four more from Pinewood in the bottom of the frame put them on top, 9-1. Pinewood then added two more runs in the fourth inning as they took a 11-1 lead.
RTCA was not done yet though, as they got to work in the top of the fifth inning. Amelia Mercer drove in a run, Emily Edwards singled in two runs, Mary Frances Stanley picked up an RBI, and an error then brought in two more runs to close the lead to 11-7. Maddie Joyner added an RBI single, Durden drove in a run, and Annabelle Coe brought in a run as RTCA closed the lead to 11-10 in the fifth.
Pinewood pulled back ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning with four more runs, as they took a 15-10 lead.
But RTCA again exploded in the top of the seventh inning. RTCA added nine more runs on five hits, including a two RBI single by Mercer. That put RTCA on top 19-15 over Pinewood. RTCA then held in the bottom of the seventh to take the win by that score.
