Lady Vikings Get A Win
The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team split their games last week. They dropped a game on Monday to Tattnall County, but bounced back on Tuesday with a win over rival Montgomery County.

Treutlen got on the board first with 2 runs in the top of the first inning. Errors played a big part in those 2 runs, as Treutlen went on top 2-0. But in the bottom of the first, Tattnall answered with 4 runs to jump ahead, 4-2.
The Vikings came back in the top of the third inning with 2 more runs as they tied the game at 4-4. Tattnall added a run in the fourth inning as they went on top 5-4, and then they plated 1 more run in the fifth inning on the way to a 6-4 win over the Vikings. vs. Montgomery
In the bottom of the first inning, an RBI single by Ella Roberson put Treutlen on the board with a 1-0 lead. They added to that lead in the second inning with an RBI from Jayden Rogers, and then an error on MCHS put the Vikings on top 3-0.
But in the top of the third inning, the Eagles stormed back with 6 runs to take a 6-3 lead over Treutlen. But in the bottom of the frame, Treutlen picked up 2 runs on an error, and then Kaylyn Kight tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 6-6. Treutlen took the lead when a runner stole home, giving the Vikings a 7-6 lead.
Treutlen added another run in the fourth inning, but MCHS picked up one in the top of the fifth. Treutlen answered with 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth and 1 more in the sixth on the way to an 11-7 win.
Rogers got the win in the circle for the Lady Vikings with 7 strikeouts. The Vikings are now 1-3 on the season and are 1-1 in Region play. This week they played Swiansboro on Monday and Wilcox County on Tuesday, with both games after presstime. They will be back in action next week with games against Wheeler County.
