The Lady Bulldogs softball team from Toombs County High School took on their rival, the Vidalia Lady Indians on Tuesday, and then faced off with Savannah Christian on Thursday in two Region matchups. The Lady Dawgs came away with wins in both of those contests as they improved their record to 9-2 overall, and 5-0 in Region play.

County Lady Dawgs to a dominant 15-3 win over the Vidalia Indians on Tuesday. Stringer allowed just three hits and three runs over four innings, with one walk.

Nora Grace Mercer had a standout performance at the plate, going 4-for-4. She doubled in the fourth inning and added singles in the first, second, and third innings. Congrats to Nora Grace for picking up hit 100 as a Toombs County Bulldog!

The Lady Dawgs jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Natalie Quintero singled to drive in a run, followed by a groundout from Stringer that scored another. Taylor Bland then delivered a bases-clearing double, bringing in three more runs.

In the second inning, the Lady Dawgs continued to extend their lead, capitalizing on a Vidalia error and getting RBI singles from Casey Cantwell and Stringer. The offensive explosion continued in the fourth inning, where the Lady Dawgs scored seven runs on five hits. Emerson Powell tripled, driving in three runs, Mercer doubled in another, and Quintero added two more RBIs with a single.

The Lady Dawgs’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with 14 hits in total. Bland, Powell, and Quintero each drove in three runs. Stringer and Aniston Powell also had multiple hits. Mercer was active on the basepaths, stealing two bases. Defensively, the Lady Dawgs were flawless, committing no errors.

Vs. Savannah

The Toombs County Lady Dawgs jumped out to an early lead on Thursday, building a six-run advantage in the first inning, and held on to secure an 8-6 victory over the Savannah Christian Raiders.

The Lady Dawgs started strong in the bottom of the first inning. Natalie Quintero got things rolling with an RBI single, followed by Shay Stringer, drawing a walk to bring in another run. Brinley Miller grounded out to score one more, Taylor Bland added an RBI single, and Emerson Powell capped off the inning with a tworun double, giving Toombs County a commanding 6-0 lead.

Savannah Christian made a comeback attempt, scoring two runs in the fourth inning on a home run to center field by Carly Hubbard. In the seventh inning, the Raiders closed the gap further with a two-run homer to left field by Hannah Jane Gard after a lengthy at-bat.

Despite the late surge by Savannah Christian, Stringer earned the win for the Lady Dawgs, pitching a complete game. She allowed six hits and six runs (five earned) over seven innings while striking out 12 and walking three.

The Lady Dawgs collected 11 hits in the game, with Quintero and Casey Cantwell each recording two hits. Powell and Stringer both drove in two runs. Cyleigh Ennis showed patience at the plate, leading the team with two walks. The Lady Dawgs drew five walks overall, demonstrating a disciplined approach at the plate.

This week TCHS has a light week as they have just one game scheduled, but it is a big Region game against the Lady Tigers of Swainsboro. The game will be at home on Thursday with the first pitch at 6:00 p.m.
