Lady Crusaders Split Games
The Lady Crusaders softball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy played two games last week as they took a win over Trinity Christian on Tuesday but fell to Wheeler County on Thursday.
Vs. Trinity
Trinity took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with two runs, and they held that lead until the top of the third inning.
In the top of the third, RTCA got RBI singles from Amelia Mercer and Annabelle Coe as they jumped in front, 3-2. But in the bottom of the third, Trinity added three more runs as they went back in front, 5-3, over RTCA.
RTCA added three more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Railee Thomas drove in two runs with an RBI double, and Mercer came through with an RBI single as RTCA took a 6-5 lead over Trinity.
RTCA held over the next three innings to take the win, 6-5.
Vs. Wheeler
It was a tough game against the GHSA Lady Bulldogs on Thursday in Alamo. RTCA did get on the board first with a two-run home run from Meredith Durden, but Wheeler came back in the bottom of the inning with three runs to go in front, 3-2.
Wheeler added a run in the third inning, but RTCA answered in the top of the fourth with a run to close the lead to 4-3. But Wheeler put four runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning and another in the fifth on the way to a 9-3 win over RTCA.
RTCA is now 6-3 on the year, but they are 3-0 in Region play. This week RTCA hosted Vidalia Heritage Academy on Tuesday after press time. They will be back in action on Thursday with Trinity Christian coming to town at 6:00 p.m.
