Lady Indians Over Saints
The Vidalia High School Lady Indians softball team played two Region games last week, splitting those contests. On Tuesday, the Indians fell to their rival Toombs County, and on Thursday, the Indians bounced back with a win over St. Vincent’s.
Vs. Toombs
Toombs jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning with 5 runs. TCHS added 3 more runs in the second inning as they pushed their lead to 8-0 over Vidalia.
Vidalia got on the board in the top of the fourth inning with 3 runs, one of those RBIs coming off a hit by Gabby Royal.
But the Bulldogs scored 7 more runs in the bottom of the fourth on the way to a 15-3 victory over VHS.
Vs. St. Vincent’s
VHS bounced back on Thursday with a win over the Saints. VHS got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when a run came in on a ball hit by Paisley Ledford. Elizabeth Sowell drove in 2 runs with a single, and Royal picked up an RBI for VHS to give them a 4-0 lead.
In the third inning, Sowell added to the lead with an RBI single, and then in the fourth inning, VHS plated 3 more runs as they took an 8-0 run rule win over the Saints.
Tori Polke was the winning pitcher for VHS, going 3 innings and giving up just 1 hit. Anastyn Blewett closed out the game in the fourth.
This week VHS was at Emanuel County Institute on Tuesday after press time. They will be back in action on Wednesday at Jeff Davis at 6:00 p.m. And then on Friday and Saturday they will play in a tournament, taking on Social Circle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Harlem at noon on Saturday.
