Lady Vikings Lose Two

The Treutlen County High School softball team had a tough week as they dropped two games. They fell to Swainsboro on Monday, and then lost a Region game to Wilcox County on Tuesday.

Vs. Swainsboro

Swainsboro got on the board in the top of the second inning with two runs to take the early lead over the Lady Vikings. Swainsboro added two more runs in the fifth inning to increase their lead to 4-0.

Treutlen couldn’t get much going as they had just two hits in the game, one from Kaylyn Kight and one from Taylor Gillis, as they lost 4-0 to the Lady Tigers.

Vs. Wilcox

The game started off with a bang as the Vikings put four runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Ella Roberson drove in a run with a single to get things started. Then with two runners on base, Ruthie Blair hit a home run to left field, scoring three runs, to put Treutlen on top 4-0.

But in the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Patriots of Wilcox answered with four runs of their own to tie the game at 4-4. Wilcox then added five more runs in the third inning as they went on top, 9-4.

Treutlen did score one more run in the top of the fifth inning, but that was all they could muster as they dropped the game to Wilcox, 9-5.

Treutlen is now 1-5 on the season, and they are 1-2 in Region play. They will take on Wheeler County twice this week with the first game in Alamo on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and then they will be in Soperton on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
