Heritage Wins Over Grace
The Eagle football team of Vidalia Heritage Academy picked up their first win of the season on Friday night of last week over the Cougars of Grace Christian Academy in Bainbridge. It was a close game with Heritage holding off the Cougars to get the victory.
VHA did all their scoring in the first quarter of the game. They took the early lead on a touchdown less than two minutes into the game on a run by Carson Morales. VHA added the twopoint conversion on a pass to Pearson O’Neal for an 8-0 lead.
Halfway through the first quarter, the Eagles added to their lead on a rushing touchdown by O’Neal. They then hit Wayne Richardson for the two-point conversion to take a 16-0 lead over the Cougars.
The score remained that way until the second quarter with less than two minutes on the clock. Grace Academy went in on a rushing touchdown to close the lead to 16-6, but on what ended up being a huge play of the game, they did not get in on the two-point conversion as VHA held the
16-6 lead. The game took a big turn on the opening kickoff of the second half as Grace returned it for the touchdown. They added the two-point conversion, but they still trailed VHA, 16-14.
The early two-point conversion miss for Grace proved to be the deciding factor of the game. Neither team scored again during the game as VHA held on to take the victory, 16- 14.
This week VHA will host David Emanuel Academy on Friday night with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
