Lady Crusaders With 2 Wins
The Lady Crusaders softball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy picked up two wins last week as they pushed their record to 8-3 on the year and 5-0 in Region action. Lady week RTCA defeated Vidalia Heritage Academy and Trinity Christian. vs. VHA
RTCA took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with three runs on a couple of hits, but it was the second inning that was the big difference in the game. Railee Thomas drove in the first two runs of the inning, and that was followed by RBI hits from Maddie Joyner, Meredith Durden, Amelia Mercer, and Alayna Wimpey as RTCA went on top 11-0.
The Crusaders scored four more runs in the third inning as they took the win over VHA, 15-0. vs. Trinity
This was a close, low scoring, contest that saw RTCA come out on top. The defense was strong on for both sides.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when RTCA finally broke through. The Crusaders had a couple runners on base, and Mary Frances Stanley laid down a nice sacrifice bunt that brought in a run to put RTCA on top 1-0. Then an error on Trinity brought in another run for RTCA to give them a 2-0 lead.
Trinity did pick up a run in the top of the seventh inning, but RTCA shut down the threat to come away with a 2-1 victory.
This week RTCA was at Edmund Burke on Tuesday after press time. They will take on First Presbyterian Christian on Wednesday at home at 4:30 p.m., and will be at Citizens Christian on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
