The Toombs County High School volleyball team was at Savannah Country Day on Tuesday of last week to take on Country Day and Beaufort, and then traveled to New Hampstead on Thursday. It was a tough week for the Lady Bulldogs as they dropped all three of their matches. They are now 3-10 on he year and are 3-3 in Region play. vs. Beaufort
Against the Lady Eagles of Beaufort, Toombs fell in the first set, 25-15. The Bulldogs bounced back in the second set to take a 25-21 win, but lost the third and deciding set, 15-10. vs. Country Day
Toombs dropped their match to County Day's Lady Hornets in straight sets. Toombs lost the first set, 25-6, and then went down, 2517, in the second set. vs. New Hampstead
TCHS continued their season on the road, traveling to face the New Hampstead Phoenix. While the junior varsity team started the night on a high note with a 3-set victory, the varsity squad faced a tougher challenge, ultimately falling in three straight sets.
The JV Lady Net-Dawgs set the tone early, claiming a 17-25 win in the first set. New Hampstead battled back to take the second set 25-20, but the resilient Toombs County JV team sealed the victory with a decisive 15-10 triumph in the third set. Gracie Petersen was a standout performer, making her presence felt all over the court for the JV squad.
As the varsity match commenced, the Lady NetDawgs struggled to find their rhythm, dropping the opening set 2125. They regrouped in the second set, but ultimately fell short 25-16. The third set saw Toombs County make a valiant comeback effort, but they ultimately succumbed 25-19, ending the match. Despite the loss, the Lady NetDawgs showcased their potential throughout the match. Alivia Patrick led the varsity squad with 2 kills, while Maritza Zamorano shone brightly, recording 5 service points, 4 aces, and 3 assists. The frontline duo of Makayla Brewton, Madison Brown, and Arianna Hill each contributed 2 blocks, demonstrating the team’s defensive prowess at the net.
The Lady NetDawgs were back in action on Tuesday of this week in Vidalia after press time to take on their rival the Indians along with McIntosh County Academy. They will be at Long County on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
