Three Wins For Lady Bulldogs
The Wheeler County High School softball Lady Bulldogs took care of business last week as they won all three of their games. They won those games by a run total of 49-3, as they dominated First Presbyterian Christian Academy on Tuesday and then took two games from Treutlen County on Wednesday and Thursday. vs. FPCA
FPCA took the early lead in this game as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but that was all they could muster in the game.
Wheeler came out of the gate firing as they put 15 runs on the board in the bottom of the frame to take complete control of the game. Ava Dixon drove in two runs, Kyleigh Horne had an RBI single, Laurie Conner drove in a run, and then Kaleigh Scott picked up two RBIs to make the score 6-0.
RBI hits then came from Kiley Ricks, Mackenzie Scott, Anna Beth Ethredge, and Shelley Conner. Horne drove in another run, and with the bases loaded, JaDirrah Randolph walked to make the score 12-3. Kaleigh Scott added an RBI, and Mackenzie Scott hit into a fielder's choice that score the 15th run of the inning.
Wheeler added six more runs in the second inning on the way to a 21-3 win. vs. Treutlen
Wheeler hosted the Lady Vikings on Wednesday. The Bulldogs put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, and then drove in eight more runs in the second inning to push their lead to 11-0.
Four more runs from Wheeler in the third inning gave the Lady Dawgs the win by the run rule, 15- 0.
Paisley McCranie threw a no-hitter for Wheeler in the game with the defense playing excellent ball.
vs. Treutlen
In the second matchup of the week, the Lady Bulldogs again rolled to a win as they got their second no-hitter of the week, this one from pitcher Ava Dixon.
Wheeler pulled ahead with four runs in the top of the first inning, and then plated eight more in the second inning to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
Wheeler scored one more time in the top of the third inning, making the final score 13-0.
The Lady Dawgs have improved their record to 12-3 on the season, and they are 5-1 in Region play.
This week Wheeler will be at Wilcox County on Thursday with the first pitch at 5:30 p;m.
