Dot Foods employees are helping ensure that local food pantries have what is needed to serve the community as the company donated $36,000 of supplies to five facilities in Toombs and Montgomery Counties last week.

This donation comes as a part of the company’s “Neighborto- Neighbor” program, which was created as a means to support the communities in which the company’s employees live. While Dot does contribute to other charities throughout the year, food insecurity is one of

the company’s biggest concerns, which has led them to participate in the program for 10 years nationwide – totaling $2.5 million worth of products given out through 360 donations that benefitted 210 food pantries in 14 U.S. communities.

On Tuesday, September 10, local Dot employees loaded a U-Haul truck with necessities, which were delivered to Evergreen True Vine Church (located at 506 Peach Tree Street in Vidalia), Southeast Georgia Communities Project (located at 300 South State Street in Lyons), and Lyons Free Will Baptist Church (located at 465 Reidsville Highway in Lyons) to ensure that the outreach programs have what they need to feed the community.

Then, on Thursday, September 12, the employees reloaded the truck and traveled to God’s Storehouse (located at 2200 Center Drive in Vidalia) and TriCounty Family Connection (located at 703 Dobbins Street in Mt. Vernon) to continue their donations.

Prior to the donation dates, each food pantry selected products from a shopping list of Dot’s inventory to best fit their specific needs. Upon arriving at each location, the employees unloaded the products, helped each pantry’s staff place the items on shelves, and thanked the volunteers for their work in the community.

“They’re the real rock stars,” one employee said while unloading the truck. “The work they do in the community is incredible, and I’m just glad we’re able to help them do what they do.”

Each pantry also shared their gratitude to the company. TriCounty Family Connection’s official statement read: “On behalf of Tri-County Family Connections, I would like to say thank you for being selected to be a recipient of the ‘Neighbor-to-Neighbor’ program for this year. This donation is a tremendous blessing to our organization. We are able to feed families and also provide students with food over the weekend through our backpack for buddies program. Thank you again Dot Foods, for all that you do for our community.”

The “Neighbor-to-Neighbor” program donations are given annually to local food pantries, but other donations of food are also given throughout the year to these community organizations.
