On Friday of last week, Vidalia Heritage Academy hosted David Emanuel Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Heritage was the clear victor by a 34-12 margin over DEA. VHA's offense stepped up their game for this one, as those were the most points they've scored all season.

Heritage took the reins of this game early and never looked back. VHA got on the board first with as they scored on the opening drive of the game. Heritage was moving the ball well when Jake Adams found Pearson O'Neal on a 32-yard pass down over the middle for the first touchdown of the game. They failed on the two-point conversion, but were on top 6-0 with 7:48 left in the first quarter.

VHA added to that lead on big plays on their second drive of the game. After the defense forced a punt VHA took over at their own 18-yard line. They quickly moved the ball across midfield with a pass to Dylan Green, who broke a couple of tackles and was finally pushed out of bounds at the 8-yard line. Two plays later, Adams hit O'Neal on a fade to the corner of the end zone for their second touchdown connection of the game. They missed the extra point, but were on top 12-0 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter.

Heritage took the ball back on downs at the DEA 44-yard line on the next series. But Heritage couldn't get anything going on their offense series and had to punt the ball away. On the punt, DEA fumbled the ball with VHA recovering it at the DEA 27-yard line with just 58 seconds to go in the first quarter.

On the first play, Adams again found O'Neal for a touchdown. That put VHA on top 18-0.

In the second quarter, both teams found the end zone, but VHA tacked on the two-point conversion on their touchdown, as they led 26-6 at halftime over DEA.

In the second half, the scoring slowed as DEA found the end zone one time in the third quarter to close the lead to 2612.

Heritage scored one more time in the fourth quarter on the way to a 34-12 win over DEA.

Heritage will be off this week, and will be back in action on September 27, when they host Westwood for Homecoming.
