Superintendent Hired At Warmouth Sands

The City of Vidalia and the Sweet Onion Golf Authority are excited to announce the new hire of Mr. Hampton Kicklighter. Mr. Kicklighter is a certified Golf Course Superintendent with over 25 years of proven success in golf course management. Mr. Kicklighter’s experience ranges from superintendent for Oyster Reef Golf Club, Orange Lake Legends and Legends Walk Golf Club, and most recently Superintendent of the Dublin Country Club.

“We are excited that the journey to bringing golf back to our community has reached the point of hiring our Superintendent for Warmouth Sands,” said Mayor Doug Roper, III. “Knowing how critical this hire would be, we were pleased with the level of interest in this position and the quality of the candidates we interviewed. We are extremely fortunate to be able to announce Hampton Kicklighter as our Superintendent. With over 25 years of proven success in golf course management, extensive project management experience and holding this same title at courses all throughout the country, we feel Hampton is the right person to lead our course. In addition, his prior experience of the grow in phase will be vital to project completion and our future success next spring. We look forward to watching this project continue to thrive under his leadership.”

We feel with the experience and knowledge Hampton brings to the table has far exceeded what we are looking for in a Superintendent. His knowledge of growing-in a golf course and his many different skills with grasses and irrigation will suit our needs. He has 30 years of experience in this field.”

Mr. Hampton Kicklighter’s expertise and enthusiasm for golf bleeds through when he speaks. His knowledge and community oriented skillset will be an asset for the area. “I’m very excited to work with the City and the Golf Authority to bring golf back to the City of Vidalia,” stated Mr. Kicklighter. “I’m looking forward to meeting with the local community, its members and golfers, as we develop Warmouth Sands for all to enjoy.”
