The Brewton-Parker College cross country teams took part in the Julius Johnson Invitational at Middle Georgia State College last week with both teams having solid showings.

Women The Brewton-Parker College Women's Cross-Country team ran at the Julius Johnson Invitational 5k this weekend. The Lady Barons finished in the top 10 out of 14 complete teams, and several other schools failed to reach the required runners for an entire team. The Lady Barons finished with an average of 25:36.

Catching up with Coach James Frank, he shared his thoughts on today's outcome, 'We are happy with our runners each setting PRs today. The team had to run with tough conditions and a lot of heat. Our entire team has worked hard to transition to running cross country, and we are very proud of how they have responded in practice to improve. They have worked incredibly hard and are excited to see what the rest of the season holds.

RaaShonda Khalil led the Barons today with a time of 23:17.6 and set another PR; she finished 57 out of 110 runners. Danielle Solis finished as the Lady Baron's second runner with just under an eight-minute mile pace and a total time of 24:31.4. Amaree Harmon was the third finisher at 26:29.2. Jaleah Rhett and Aliyah Allen came in back-to-back with times of 26:48 and 27:04.9 respectively. Mylan Tanner wrapped up the numbers for the Lady Barons at 29:20.5 Men

The Brewton-Parker College Men's Cross Country continued their season with their second race, saw significant improvement from all of their runners, and had the team finish fifth out of fourteen teams in the 2024 8k Julius Johnson Invitational. The team finished with an average time of 28:03 and a score of 159. The team showed great hustle and individually had one runner finish in the top 30 runners. Isaiah Jackson finished 27th with an average mile time of 5:39.4 and a total time of 27:03.9. The Barons showed major improvements and competed against teams from Mercer, Georgia College, Clayton State, Morehouse, Florida Gateway College, and ABAC, to name a few, including runners from some schools who were unable to bring an entire team.

Coach Frank added, 'The guys' course was actually short, about 250 meters; even converting our times, they had big PRs. It is a tough course. We are super proud of their effort and training in practice these past weeks, and it was clear today that it has paid off. I knew they would run well today and told them as such, and they sure did deliver.'

BPC saw a new finishing order today as Eric Smith finished second for the Barons with a time of 27:32.3, just 31 seconds before Jacob Hackenberry came in third at 28:03.3. Jonas Galli came in fourth with a time of 28:08.8 and the Barons fifth runner Hunter Milhollin finished with a time of 29:28.0 to wrap up the group of averages for Brewton-Parker. The Barons also saw Brandon Williams run close behind Hunter, finishing just 3.6 seconds later. Yusuf Abuukar came in next with a time of 29:35.3. Anthony Ferrie and Zamarvian Green finished with just .2 seconds separating them at 29:54.4. and 29:54.6. Dillion Dorsey, Alan Leon, Dylan Hayes, Gabriel Glover, and Caleb Wilson also ran today for Brewton- Parker and had strong showings. Coach is confident that all of our athletes will continue to improve as the season continues as most of our athletes have never run Cross Country before, instead coming over from Track and Field. The running style has been an adjustment, and we hope to see more PRs keep coming.

The Baron's next opportunity to race will be at the BPC Invitational at home on October 4.
