The JR Trippe Middle School Chiefs cross country teams had an eventful week traveling to two meets on Thursday and Saturday. Having a tight schedule and tired legs, they rose to the challenge.

At Toombs

The Toombs County High School Bulldog Invitational was held at TCHS and hosted several teams. Wyatt Vassey came in 4th place out of 158 runners with a time of 11:38. Peyton Coursey also ran very well with a time of 13:57, shaving a 1:30 off his previous time. The boys finished 5th place as a team.

Out of 134 runners, Ginny Meredith won the girls' 2 mile race with an impressive time of 13:07. Ella Allen also ran a respectable race, helping the girls team finish 5th place as well.

At The Hounds

Less than 48 hours later, the teams travelled to Gray, Ga., and competed in the Release the Hounds Invitational. Once again, Vassey and Meredith excelled by each winning their race in a very large field of competitors.

Vassey brought in a time of 12:13 with Kartel Lane, Peyton Coursey, Knox Overstreet and Fisher Mobley helping the boys' team clinch 5th place overall against 14 teams.

Ginny Meredith came in 1st place for the girls with a time of 13:29. To secure an overall 5th place for the team, Ella Allen placed 15th, with Sophie English, Analeigh English and Zoe Achenbach following.

Coach Erica Palmer said, “These runners are working so hard in hot conditions and give new meaning to 'Trust the Process.'”
